“The website emits the same positive radiance as the actual place. Jabe created a clear design strategy/system in all assets of the branding and user touch-points”
Brand identity
With a new place, a new goal and new people a new brand identity was one of the first items on the list for the company. A good visual identity would be a first step to get the idea across and convince the city counsel of the need for a new place in the city centre of Zwolle. Blue Bayou stands for a Zwols waterfront and a magic place where you want to return to. Just think of the song of Roy Orbison.
So we wanted to integrate some Zwolse icons in the brand, focus on the cultural aspects and integrate some magical items which keep you looking and coming back to the place.
"I'm going back someday, come what may, to Blue Bayou. Where the folks are fun and the world is mine, on Blue Bayou. Where those fishing boats with their sails afloat. If I could only see that familiar sunrise through sleepy eyes, how happy I'd be."
-Roy Orbison-
Design system
To have a consistent design language I’ve set up a design system from which following designs could easily be derived of. Starting out with a colour selection, different components and finally ending up with a logo and website.
Web development
Being a cultural hub, the website has multiple purposes which need to be clear and easy to find for a user. Some first research led to prioritization of information. The kitchen was most important, then the cultural program and finally reservations. With a one-pager we wanted to give users a simplistic and user friendly experience that radiates the concept of Blue Bayou.
